How We Picked the Best Online Craps Casinos

The table above is filtered from our full casino rankings down to the five we currently rate highest specifically for craps, using the same methodology behind our overall casino scoring: licensing and reputation, table availability and stakes range, payout speed, and mobile experience.

How to Play Online Craps

Craps is built around a shooter rolling two dice, with every player free to bet on the outcome regardless of who's rolling. The first roll of a round is the come-out roll - it either settles Pass Line bets immediately or sets a target number, called "the point," that the shooter must roll again before a 7 to keep the round alive.

Pass Line & Come Bets

A Pass Line bet wins on a come-out roll of 7 or 11, loses on 2, 3, or 12, and otherwise rides on the point being rolled again before a 7. A Come bet works identically but can be placed on any roll after the point is already established, effectively starting its own mini come-out roll.

Taking Odds

Once a point is set, you can back your Pass Line or Come bet with an odds bet - an additional wager that pays true mathematical odds with no house edge at all, though casinos cap it as a multiple (often 2x, 3x, or more) of your original bet.

Place Bets & Other Wagers

You can also bet directly that a specific number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) will be rolled before a 7, without needing a point already established - these are Place bets. Proposition bets in the centre of the table (any 7, hardways, and similar one-roll bets) offer bigger payouts but carry a noticeably higher house edge, so they're worth treating as a side bet rather than your main strategy.

Quick Answers

Craps FAQs

Straight answers to the questions we get asked most about online craps, bets, and house edge.

What is the best online craps site right now?

Silver Fox Casino is our top-rated pick for online craps in our current rankings, scoring 4.7/5. Diamond Peak Casino is a strong alternative if you want higher table limits.

What is the safest bet in craps?

The odds bet - placed behind a Pass Line or Come bet - is the only bet in the casino with zero house edge, since it pays true mathematical odds. It can only be placed as a multiple of your original bet and isn't available as a standalone wager.

What is the house edge on different craps bets?

Pass Line and Come bets carry a house edge of about 1.41%. Place bets on 6 or 8 run about 1.52%, while place bets on 4 or 10 rise to about 6.67%. Proposition bets like any 7 or hardways carry house edges from 9% up to 16.7%, making them the worst value on the table.

What does 'the point' mean in craps?

If the shooter's come-out roll is anything other than 7, 11, 2, 3, or 12, that number becomes "the point." The shooter then keeps rolling until either the point number comes up again (Pass Line wins) or a 7 is rolled first (Pass Line loses).

Is online craps rigged?

Licensed online craps runs on independently audited RNG software (for RNG tables) or streams a real dealer and dice (for live tables), so outcomes can't be rigged the way an unlicensed site's could be. Always confirm a casino holds an active gambling licence before you play for real money.

Can I play craps for free before wagering real money?

Yes - most licensed casinos that offer craps let you play RNG versions for free in demo mode, with no account or deposit required, so you can practise bet types before wagering real money.

Is it legal to play online craps for real money?

That depends on where you live - many countries and US states regulate real-money online craps, while others restrict or prohibit it. Check your local gambling laws and confirm a casino holds a licence covering your location before depositing.
