The goal in blackjack is simple: get a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer's without going over. Number cards count at face value, Jacks, Queens, and Kings count as 10, and Aces count as either 1 or 11, whichever helps your hand more. A first hand made up of an Ace and any 10-value card is a natural blackjack, usually paid at 3:2.
Once you've placed your bet, you're dealt two cards face up, and the dealer takes two cards with one showing. From there you choose to Hit (take another card), Stand (keep your current total and end your turn), or use one of the special moves below if your hand qualifies.
