Mega Moolah progressive pays out multiple times
The Mega Moolah progressive jackpot has been responsible for some of Microgaming’s biggest payouts and over the course of the last few weeks, it would seem as though it has been hit by a few more lucky players.
The progressive jackpot network made gambling history back in 2009 when it paid out over €6m to a single player and since then it has paid out a number of additional cash prizes worth between €2.5m and €4m. The latest win of note came in October last year when a payout worth €3.8m was triggered and just two months later a further £1.96m was handed out.
However, it seems as though the last couple of months have generated some new jackpot hits too with worth over one million credits coming just last week. Aside from that, 1.4m credits were paid out at the beginning of the month and in April an additional win of 1.52m credits was also recorded. Player details and the casinos that these wins were registered in have not been released yet, neither has the name of the slot which was being played at the time.
The most significant change to the Mega Moolah jackpot occurred around 12 months ago when Microgaming announced that they would attach their popular Lord of the Rings slot machine to the network. However, recent rumours flying around the online gaming community have suggested that not only will Microgaming remove their flagship slot from the jackpot network, but that they’ll also be closing it down come the end of the month.
Microgaming have yet to confirm whether this is true, but if this closure does go ahead, it has been suggested that it will be because of the size of royalty payments which the software provider is having to make on the game. One forum has claimed that Lord of the Rings will indeed close down over the next few days and be replaced with “something even better” although no further clarification is currently being given.
