Too often, owners of Apple Macs are excluded from playing in various online casinos due to the fact that the software which they are asked to download isn’t Mac compatible. Unfotunately, all downloadable casino sofware only runs on Windows software.
Therefore, there are two different ways for Mac users to play at online casinos.
- Register with a casino doesn’t require you to download software and will let you play games directly through your browser instead
- Install PC Emulator software on your Mac and install the Windows software from your favourite casino
No Download Casino
The quickest and easiest way to play in a Mac casino is to find an “Instant Play” casino that won’t force you to download a small file. Instead of needing to install software on your desktop, you’ll instead play your games using your favourite web browser.
This totally eliminates the need for software to be downloaded and allows players into the casino much more quickly than they would normally expect.
There are a couple of slight disadvantes to “Instant Play” casinos though:
- Firstly, some “Instant Play” casinos only offer a selection of the games that would otherwise be available through a downloadable file.
- Somtimes, the connection to the casino can be a little slow when playing games through a web browser
However, we have taken both of these points into account when making our recommendations of Mac Casinos at the top of the page and believe that those in our list offer the best Instant Play opportunities out there. Certainly, users of Cherry Red and Rushmore won’t notice any difference between the downloaded casino and the casino that is accessible through their web browser.
PC Emulators
If you’re worried about connectivity, or want to play slightly rarer versions of games that you might not find in the Instant Play casino, then you’ll need to install a PC Emulator.
An emulator will allow you to run Windows on your Mac, and while it isn’t necessarily cheap, it will solve your problems and allow you a more stable environment to play your casino games in.
If you’ve recently bought a Mac, it’s worth seeing whether you have some software called “Boot Camp” already installed on your machine. If so, you’re already equipped to run Windows. If your machine is slightly older, then we’d advise checking out software like iEmulator which we run on several of our Mac computers.
That iEmulator software will allow you to run Windows based software for a reasonable price of $23.95.
