Microgaming’s Major Millions online slot machine has paid out almost $300,000 when its progressive jackpot was hit two days ago.

Details of precisely which casino hosted the jackpot win have not been released, but while the lucky winner will be delighted with his/her pay check, there is a certain feeling among the online casino community that perhaps the large payouts which the game become famous for are a thing of the past.

In 2002, the Major Millions game set a new world record when it payed out over $1.5m and has paid out several six figure sums since. Over the last year though, these prizes have become much smaller in size. The largest win in the last twelve months stands at $563k with the average hit being $366k.

Major Millions isn’t the only slot machine to see their prize value fall. The first three hits on the Megah Moolah slot paid out over $15m with the smallest prize weighing in at $4m. Lately though, the Megah Moolah has been triggered a lot more often, but the value of the prize has dropped to just over $1m.

Both Major Millions and Megah Moolah can be played in all Microgaming casinos. If you’d like to try the games out, we would recommend playing them at 32Red, the online casino that has been named “Casino of the Year” for the last six years.
